Cinema Guild acquires New Directors/New Films audience favorite 4 DAYS IN FRANCE

NEW YORK, NY— Cinema Guild announced today the acquisition of all U.S. distribution rights to Jérôme Reybaud’s fiction feature debut 4 Days in France. The film premiered at last year’s Venice Critics’ Week and made its U.S. debut at New Directors/New Films in March. 4 Days in France will open at the Quad Cinema in New York in August.

Jérôme Reybaud’s remarkably accomplished feature debut is a sly and sophisticated takes on gay romance in the 21 st century. On a seemingly ordinary night in Paris, Pierre snaps a few photos of his lover Paul’s sleeping body and takes off into the early morning light. Where he’s headed neither of them know. Pierre’s only guide is his Grindr app, which leads him on a series of encounters with an indelible cast of characters across the stunning French countryside. Paul sets out after him, using his own phone to track Pierre’s movements in a strange and wonderful game of Grindr cat-and- mouse.

Sumptuously shot by Sabine Lancelin (Rohmer’s Boyfriends and Girlfriends, Oliveira’s The Strange Case of Angelica) and featuring a supporting a cast of familiar faces from French cinema, 4 Days is in France is a tale imbued with sensuality, humor and surprising tenderness, “an ode to cruising rit large” (Slant).

"We are very excited to be releasing 4 Days in France, said Cinema Guild’s Director of Distribution Peter Kelly. "Jérôme Reybaud has not only given us a funny and touching film, but a visually stunning debut that marks the arrival of an exciting new voice; one that we can’t wait for audiences to experience."

"Having discovered Jérôme’s distinct auteur style in Venice Critics’ Week last year, we’re thrilled to have 4 Days in France introduced to wider American audiences by Cinema Guild,” said M-Appeal. “Their carefully curated cinephile line-up is one we’ve long admired. We’re convinced that the film is in great hands."

The deal was negotiated by Peter Kelly of Cinema Guild with Ilinka Mihailescu of M-Appeal. Cinema Guild is a premier distributor of independent, foreign and documentary films, whose upcoming releases include Theo Anthony’s Rat Film and Patrick Shen’s In Pursuit of Silence. Recent theatrical releases include Albert Serra’s The Death of Louis XIV, Mehrdad Oskouei's Starless Dreams, Asghar Farhadi's About Elly and Lisandro Alonso's Jauja.
