The Cinema Guild, Inc. is a film distribution company based in New York. The company distributes films to a large variety of markets, including theatrical, educational, home video and VOD. We are heavily involved in promoting our library of titles to the appropriate venues. Recent titles include Jim McKay's EN EL SEPTIMO DIA, Hong Sangsoo's CLAIRE'S CAMERA, ON THE BEACH AT NIGHT ALONE Valeska Grisebach's WESTERN. Upcoming releases include RaMell Ross' HALE COUNTY THIS MORNING, THIS EVENING, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's THE WILD PEAR TREE, Hong Sang-soo's GRASS.

The Cinema Guild is currently seeking smart, detail-oriented PR specialist workings of a company such as ours and about the film industry in general. PR specialist will work closely with the Theatrical distribution team, assisting with day to day tasks ranging from select pitching and outreach, tracking/monitoring press breaks, talent managing, assisting with press screenings, overseeing interns, and any further clerical needs. This position offers the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the distribution, as well as broaden pitching skills and press contacts. Essential qualifications include the ability to work and manage several projects at a time and anticipate and overcome obstacles. Due to the many series/festivals and events held year-round it is critical to be able to multi-task, has strong organizational and communication skills, troubleshoot and problem solve under pressure and communicate to relevant parties constantly.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Pitch press and conduct outreach on select films and events
Establish and maintain relationships with film critics and different news outlets
Monitor, research, and gather up-to-date press breaks
Work with outside publicists to ensure that needs of visiting talent are met and security details are in place
Coordinate with publicists and write publicity plan for upcoming films
Manage press section of Cinema Guild by sending out weekly press releases
Manage press screenings, event RSVPs, and ticket requests
Respond to requests film screenings/materials to press members
Submit reviews to film rating websites, make sure the correct information and rating corresponds to the reviews
Research about theaters, establish and maintain relationships with local and regional theaters, major film festivals.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Film Studies, communication, marketing, or related area.
1-2 years of experience in film distribution
Attention to detail and ability to work independently
Ability to handle high-stress situations with grace and patience
